A Brief Bio


By Lake HuronChristopher Brown-Syed BA MLS MA PhD, has degrees in film production, philosophy, and information studies, from York University (Toronto) and the University of Toronto. He is Editor of the journal  Library and Archival Security.

His areas of interest include the geopolitics of information, library automation and security, and the history and philosophy of technology. He has taught full-time at universities and colleges in Michigan and New York, and part-time in Arizona, Illinois, California, and Ontario.

With professional experience gained in Canada, Australia, the US and the UK, Chris is an ex-employee of the computer companies Plessey and Geac, and an "old hand" of the Commonwealth Expedition. He is currently writing a book about the people who developed integrated library automation systems.
